Dog lovers rejoice! This dog pop-up card is easy to make, although it requires some digital planning to prepare the pop-up mechanism. You will need a printer and Cricut Design Space software, which is free to use.

Modern holiday card making ideas

Inspired by geometry, these modern holiday cards require only coloured card stock, paper glue and a fancy squeeze punch to cut out shapes. We particularly like the Christmas tree card because of its use of whitespace.

Pop-up Christmas card

This pop-up Christmas card contains a snowman and two Christmas trees, and it’s relatively easy to make! You need A4 colour paper and a pencil, a ruler, a glue stick and scissors. The trick is to fold everything as cleanly as possible.

Kissing buttons

Nothing beats the simplicity of this one! All you need is card stock, two buttons, a hot glue gun, and coloured felt tip pens to draw a few hearts, birds or anything else. There are no decent tutorials, but this image basically explains all.

Origami hearts

Origami hearts are perfect for Valentine’s Day, anniversaries and special occasions. You can write inside them and hide small notes. Play with different paper colours, and don’t be afraid to decorate your hearts with glitter and paint.

Kissing cards

This kissing card design is perfect if you’re looking for something romantic (or perhaps a little gaudy). You can download a template or have a go at creating a custom design, and you only need a sheet of A4 card stock and marker pens.

Easy marble paper

The award for simplest card making idea of all time goes to this one. To make an easy marble card, you need shaving cream, paint and card. You dress a bowl of shaving cream in paint or ink and then transfer it to the card by pressing it on. Easy!
